What does the Bible say about the Taliban and Afghanistan?

In this blog, let us take a look at where the Taliban and Afghanistan can be found in the Bible and what it says about their future. Check out the prophecies written about them and why there is a lot of conflict in the Middle East.

The Taliban has already taken over Afghanistan. It seems that the 20 years of US intervention in Afghanistan were quickly buried into the desert sand in just a month.

Most people around the world couldn’t care less about what is happening right now in an obscure country in the Middle East. However, if you are a student of the Bible, you know that what happens in the Middle East will eventually affect every person no matter where they are in the world.

With this in mind, we must take a moment and reflect on what we must learn from what is happening right now in Afghanistan. Here are some of the important lessons we must understand.

Conflict in the Middle East has long been prophesied

What does the Bible say about the Taliban and Afghanistan?

If you want to understand why the Middle East is full of chaos, strife, and instability, you need to look into your Bible.

The conflict started when Abraham took Hagar and had a son from her. Sarah was Abraham’s wife. However, since she can’t bear a child, she gave Hagar to Abraham.

Hagar conceived and Ishamael was born. The problem was that Sarah regretted her decision. Sarah eventually bore Abraham a son and his name was Isaac. As a result, Hagar and her son became an outcast and were driven away.

Notice the prophecy given by the Messenger who appeared to Hagar as she was fleeing from Sarah:

Then the Angel of the LORD said to her, “I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude.” And the Angel of the LORD said to her:

“Behold, you are with child,
And you shall bear a son.
You shall call his name Ishmael,
Because the LORD has heard your affliction.

He shall be a wild man;
His hand shall be against every man,
And every man’s hand against him.
And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.”
(Genesis 16:10-12)

History shows us that the descendants of Ishmael are no other than the Arabs and indeed they exceedingly increased in numbers.

To make things more interesting, Muhammad, the prophet and founder of Islam, was descended from Kedar, one of the 12 sons of Ishmael.

With this in mind, the prophecy about Ishmael applies to the modern-day Arab countries that are found in the Middle East.

Taliban in Bible prophecy

As we are seeing in the news, the Taliban has now taken control of Afghanistan. The Taliban is known to be Islamic purists — meaning, they strongly adhere to the literal understanding and application of Sharia Law and Quran. The term Taliban itself means students.

There’s no doubt that the Afghanistan is a multi-ethnic and multilingual society. A small part of them are called Afghan-Arabs, making some of them as descendants of Ishmael. However, Even though not all of them are Arabs, there’s no doubt that they belong to the religion established by Mohammad, a descendant of Ishmael.

With this in mind, the Taliban are influenced by the beliefs, principles, and doctrines of Islam. As part of the Islamic people, the biblical prophecy is astoundingly accurate if we try to apply it to Taliban.

Notice:

He shall be a wild man;
His hand shall be against every man,
And every man’s hand against him.
And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.”
(Genesis 16:12)

In another translation, it says here, Ishmael and his descendants would be “a wild donkey of a man.” This is not meant to be an insult, but rather it describes how the Arabs would always resist foreign dominations and will live an independent lifestyle.

Thus, we have seen how the United States vainly tried to control Afghanistan in the last two decades. While it is true that the Afghans are not pure Arabs, because of their adherence to the Muslim faith, they share the same vision of religiosity with other Arabs.

When the Taliban came, there was even little to no resistance. The Afghan army didn’t even put up a fight.

It only shows that because of religious and cultural differences, Afghanistan would have a difficulty copying the Western style government the US was introducing.

Why radical islamists hates the United States

Have you ever wondered why the United States is so hated by a lot of Arab and Muslim countries?

Here’s what the mainstream media failed to tell you.

The United States and other English-speaking nations are among the 10 lost tribes of Israel. The sibling rivalry and animosity between Isaac and Ishmael were carried down throughout their descendants.

This shows you why some Muslim nations hated not just the US, but also Israel.

Notice this prophecy mentioned in Psalms 83:4-8:

4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”

5 For they have consulted together with one consent;
They form a confederacy against You:
6 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites;
Moab and the Hagrites;
7 Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek;
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assyria also has joined with them;
They have helped the children of Lot.

The Ishmaelites are among the nations that will conspire together to destroy the United States, Israel, and other English-speaking nations.

What this tells us about the United States

Even though the US won’t admit it, it has actually lost the war in Afghanistan.

After thousands of soldiers killed and injured and trillions of dollars spent, the United States can’t successfully turn Afghanistan into a democratic state.

So, what does this tell you? A lot.

However, for starter, here are a few things you need to consider:

  1. The United States has lost a huge part of its ability to become the “policeman of the free world.” This means that countries around the world, even if the US will say they have their back, should think twice if the US would truly be there for its allies when the time comes.
  2. We will see a rise of more terrorist attacks not just in the United States, but also in its allies. Radical Islamists would be more emboldened to create havoc because they are now seeing a weaker United States. Not only that, but as the United States bring in more refugees from Afghanistan, there’s even more chances for some of them to become extremists and in turn, create domestic terrorism.
  3. The United States will one day fall. Biblical prophecies tell us that the pride of their power would be broken (Leviticus 26:19). We are now seeing today the beginning of the fall of the US.

The Coming Kingdom of God

As we look at our world today, particularly Afghanistan, we can’t help but sigh and cry for the many sufferings, uncertainties, and deaths we are seeing.

We live in a fallen world. We live in a world that Satan rules (II Corinthians 4:4). Thus, if there’s one thing that we must always pray for, it is this:

10 “Your kingdom come (Matthew 6:10).

There’s a reason why Jesus or Yahshua included this in His model prayer.

We need to yearn for God’s kingdom to be established here on earth.

We must have this strong desire for Christ’s second return.

Man has proven that we can’t rule effectively ourselves.

It takes God’s reign and kingdom for us to see everlasting joy, prosperity, and most importantly, peace.

May God hasten the second coming of the Messiah and rescue us from ourselves!

  1. do you know where Jesus is and what he is doing right now,
    do you know there is a new covenant mediator
    you do know that our passed sins are forgiven but if we sin what is the mew covenants protocol to get that sin forgiven
    who is your high priest
    Afghanistan, is not in the last day prophecy its the papacy and the Antichrist system holy roman empire the false kingdom on earth the pope the man of sin (office) is attempting to take over america dis troy its constitution that separates religion and politics and make an image of the beast holy roman empire (church and state) then the image of the beast (church and state ) will force all into a system of church and state, that my friend is a clear picture of the woman (church) riding (the beast) church and state.

    • Interesting. The Greek word for Catholic is καθολικός (katholikos), meaning “universal” and the current pope is organizing this ‘one world religion’. I think most people would agree the pope is the false prophet written about in bible prophecy but I need to do more research about the beast system. I concluded it to be the Vatican or United Nations. it does make sense though. The antichrist will change times and laws. The only one I know of that’s done this is the roman empire. At the end of the day, I want to be saved and right with the Father Elohim. I pray we all come to the truth and focus on getting our house in order before it’s too late.

      • Thanks Tasha, there are still a lot of things to learn. As of now, my understanding is that the false prophet would be a religious leader and that it will ride on the beast power rising from Europe.

  2. Great thoughts, clearly written and they seem sound. Well done. This article has inspired me to go to my Bible and be comforted with the gospel. As with any other article, we should be like the Bereans, take these words and examine them against scripture. Acts 17:11. Thank you! ☺️

  3. reading this from an island state in the Pacific, Fiji.Am begining to understand the turmoil happening in Afghanistan.
