Should Christians still keep the Sabbath?

This is the transcript of my video blog entitled, “Should Christians keep the Sabbath?” You can watch the video on my YouTube channel.

Today, I want to talk about the Fourth Commandment, which tells us:

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”

Should Christians still keep the Sabbath?

Is it true that out of the Ten Commandments, it is only the Sabbath Day that is rendered obsolete?

Could it be that millions, if not billions, of Sunday keepers, are wrong on which day they are calling as the Sabbath?

The answer to these questions would shock you. Stick around and let me share with you the hidden truth of the Sabbath and why you and I are still expected to keep the biblical Sabbath.

Friends, millions of Christians today meet on Sunday. However, did you know that the true servants of the living God keep the Sabbath — the time from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset?

Let’s examine the pieces of evidence.

The Sabbath day was instituted by God during the creation week. We read Genesis 2:1-3:

1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Did you notice that my friend, the Bible says on the seventh day? Take a quick look at your calendar. Which day is the seventh day? Obviously, it’s Saturday. How about Sunday? Your calendar says it’s the first day.

Isn’t it interesting that the fourth commandment starts with the word, “Remember?” Why? Because the Sabbath has always existed since the creation week. This means the Sabbath didn’t start in Mt. Sinai when Yahweh gave the Ten Commandments.

Now, we call ourselves Christians because we follow Christ, our Master. However, did you know Yahshua or Jesus didn’t go to church every Sunday? Far be it! Which day did He keep?

We read in Luke 4:16:

“So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.”

The Bible tells us that He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath — not Sunday. Jesus Christ is a Sabbath-keeper, not a Sunday keeper. In fact, it was Christ’s custom to keep the Sabbath. It is His way of life.

Notice what Christ declared in Mark 2:27:

“The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath”.

Yahshua didn’t say, “the Sabbath was made for the Israelites.” He didn’t say, “The sabbath was made for the Jews or for the Christians.” Instead, we read, “The Sabbath was made for MAN!”

The Greek word used here is “anthropos.” It means human beings. So, if you consider yourself to be part of the human race, then the Sabbath is for you!

To make things even more convincing, Jesus proclaimed in Mark 2:28:

“Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”

Please note, Jesus said, He is Lord of the Sabbath. He didn’t say, He is the Lord of Sunday. If Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, then, who is the lord of Sunday? You think of that for a second.

Let me make this very clear: even if you read the Bible from cover to cover, from Genesis to Revelation, you will never ever find a single verse that says the Sabbath is now Sunday. On the contrary, you will consistently find that the Sabbath is on the Seventh Day and that every true believer of Christ keeps the same day.

Now, here’s my dare to you, if you can give me a single verse in the Bible that clearly says the sanctity of the Sabbath was already transferred to Sunday, then I’ll give you $1,000. That’s it. I’ll give it to you that is if you can find one verse.

Now, I can tell more about the Sabbath, but I don’t have enough time in this video. That’s why I highly recommend you request a free copy of my book, “The Shocking Truth About the Sabbath Day.” In this book, you will discover the compelling reasons why Christians should still keep the Sabbath and how we can all benefit from the fourth commandment. Perhaps, the most obvious verse that proves Christians should still keep the Sabbath is found in Hebrews 4:9:

There remains therefore a rest for the people of God”.

If you don’t know Greek, you can easily miss the deep meaning of this verse.

The word rest here came from the Greek word, sabbatismos.

Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary defines Sabbatismos as “a sabbath-keeping,” a sabbath rest, keeping of a sabbath.

Thayer’s dictionary also defined it as “a keeping of sabbath.”

In other words, Hebrews 4:9 is saying, “There remains therefore a Sabbath for the people of God.”

IF you consider yourself to be part of God’s people or you want to be part of that group, then you must keep the Sabbath.

There’s no shadow of a doubt that Yahweh expects His people to keep the seventh-day Sabbath even today in our modern time.

Now that you know the truth, the question is, will you still follow the traditions of men and keep Sunday? Or will you follow the commandment of God and keep the Sabbath?

The choice is yours to make, but it is my sincerest hope that you will make the right choice.

That’s it for me. I hope you learned something new today. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask in the comment box below.
