Join us now and I will assure you that the things you will learn from this video will
0:11
dramatically change the way you see Peter. Peter was popularly known as the disciple who denied Yeshua the Messiah or Jesus Christ
0:29
Jesus Christ. Not only that, but we read how many times Yahshua had to sternly correct Peter
0:35
more than any of the other disciples. However, Peter's conversion after Christ's resurrection
0:41
is among the most dramatic and powerful transformations. On the day of Pentecost, Peter gave a moving
0:48
inspiring message that helped a lot of people to be converted to Christianity. Peter had become
0:53
courageous, bold, and zealous in doing the work of God. He was a change. He was a change in
0:58
man, something that we all should aim for to achieve as well
1:04
That's why I would like to offer you a free copy of my e-book, The Seven Powerful Habits
1:09
of Highly Effective Christians. In this book, you will discover the powerful habits of Peter as well as other spiritual
1:16
giants and zealous servants of God. This book will help you know how these habits transform them and how they can also transform you
1:25
So please check the link below to request your free copy. We read about the calling of Peter and other disciples in Matthew 4, verses 18 to 19
1:34
And Yahshua, or Jesus Christ, walking by the sea of Galilee, two brothers, Simon called Peter and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen
1:46
Then he said to them, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men
1:51
We must realize that Yahshua is inviting us to follow him. If there's one call in your life that you should answer, it would be Christ's calling to follow him
2:02
The question now is, will you answer God's invitation? And if yes, when
2:08
When are you going to answer the calling of God? Matthew 4 verse 20 tells us that after Yahshua gave the invitation, we read that the apostles immediately left their nets
2:21
And what did they do? They followed him. Did you see the sense of urgency here
2:27
Not only did they follow Christ, but they left their nets, signifying the complete surrender of the lives to God's hands
2:35
They have left their source of income and their livelihood, and they stopped being full-time fishermen to become fishers of men
2:44
From that day on, they must now live a separate and whole life dedicated to doing the will of Yahweh
2:51
Another important lesson we must learn in Matthew, Matthew 4, verse 18 to 20 is this. God plays no favoritism. In Matthew 4, we see here that
3:01
Yeshua, where Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, to find his disciples. The Messiah wasn't
3:08
searching among the chief priests, the elders, the leaders, kings, and other prominent men
3:13
He wasn't looking in Herod's court, in the palaces, in castles, where he could have found
3:20
the mighty and noble people But he was on the first the Sea of Galilee our Savior called fishermen to be part of his inner circle In the standards of men Peter and others are no one
3:34
But to Christ, they were someone. At that moment, Peter had no idea how he and his companions would eventually change the world
3:44
We read in 1 Corinthians 1, 26 to 28, for you see your calling brethren that not many wise according to the flesh not many mighty not many noble are cold
3:55
but god has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise and god has chosen the weak
4:03
things of the world to put shame the things which are mighty and the base things of the world
4:09
and the things which are despised god has chosen you see god isn't calling the rich and famous today
4:17
but Yahweh is calling you those by this world standards foolish, weak, and base things
4:24
So why did Christ call Peter? What's the purpose? Is it to make him a slave
4:30
Is it to simply make him an instrument to fulfill a purpose? Obviously not
4:35
When Yahshua said, follow me, he was inviting Peter to live a closer life to him
4:42
Yahshua wanted Peter to get more acquainted with him. He wanted to foster an intimate relationship and this would only be possible if Peter spends more time with Yahshua
4:54
During the time spent by Peter with Joshua, we have seen how many times he was strongly corrected by the master
5:00
This is written for us not to humiliate Peter but for our instruction and learning
5:06
There was one instance when Peter was strongly rebuked by Christ. It was the time when Yahshua predicted his death and resurrection
5:13
In the mind of Peter, he can't comprehend how their master would suffer such a horrible death
5:21
It is unimaginable for him to witness the death of his master
5:25
Thus, we read in Matthew 16, verse 22 to 23. Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying
5:34
Far be it from you, Lord, this shall not happen to you. But he turned and said to Peter
5:40
Get behind me, Satan. You are an offense to me. for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men
5:49
In our Christian walk, there are times when we can't understand the logic of God's commands
5:55
We can't understand this will and purpose in our lives. Though we might not admit it, but we act as if we know better than God
6:04
In this instance, Peter felt that Christ was making a mistake. To die for our sins, Peter thought that it is not the way things should work
6:13
He believed that there is a better way to save mankind. For this, Peter received a stern rebuke from Jesus
6:22
Remember earlier in the same chapter, Peter was called Blessed. Now, Joshua said, get behind me, Satan
6:30
How would have Peter felt when he heard these words? How quickly did he remember that God's plan is bigger than anything that he can conceive
6:38
For us Christians, we need to fully trust God's will in our lives
6:43
Yes, there are times when we just can't understand why we are going through different problems in life but we can have the confidence that God will is perfect And if we want anything in this life it should be his will
6:58
Perhaps the most well-known story of Peter is when he tried to walk on water to be withaste
7:03
The disciples of Christ are on a boat, tossed about by the waves because the wind was blowing against it
7:11
We read that in Matthew 14, verse 24. All of a sudden, they saw Christ
7:16
not inside the boat, but outside the boat, walking on the water
7:21
At first, the disciples thought that they have seen a spirit. However, Yahshua revealed himself and said
7:27
Be of good cheer. It is I. Be not afraid. We read the rest of the story in Matthew 14, verse 28 to 32
7:36
And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water
7:43
So he said, come. And when Peter had come down out of the water
7:46
boat he walked on the water to go to Yahshua. But when he saw that the wind was
7:52
boasterous, he was afraid. And beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me
7:59
And eventually, Yahshua stretched out his hand and caught him and said
8:04
Oh, you of little faith. Why did you doubt? And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased
8:11
You know, Peter is a man of courage. It is due to his courage that he always seemed to
8:16
be the speaker of the disciples. However, sometimes the same courage puts him in trouble. He wanted to come to
8:24
Yahshua, something that we all must desire. However, living the Christian life is not always smooth sailing
8:32
or a life without trouble. It is expected that we will face a lot of troubles, challenges, and
8:38
problems along the way. At first, Peter was able to walk on water. An amazing feat that we might
8:44
have also experienced spiritually when we first decided to follow Christ. However, Peter's attention was diverted to the boisterous wind
8:54
In the same manner, our focus might also be diverted from Christ to the storms of life
9:01
Problems are a normal part of life. But when we begin to be afraid, just like Peter, we begin to sink
9:09
What happened? Peter walked by sight instead of walking by fate. We must remember that the things that we don't see are more powerful than the things that we see
9:21
In this life, we need to realize that to see is not to believe, but to believe is to see
9:28
Walking by faith means that no matter what happens in this life, we must never lose our faith
9:34
Though we might lose our house, the respect and love of others, the recognition, and even our life
9:40
but we must never lose our faith. He is known to be the disciple who denied Yahshua three times
9:48
His betrayal of Yahshua is so serious that it was recorded in all four Gospels
9:54
When Yahshua predicted his death, Peter said, Even if all are made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble
10:03
Matthew 26 verse 23. Yet when the push came to show Peter denied Yahshua not just once or twice but thrice Before Peter realized how he betrayed his master he went out and wept bitterly There no doubt Peter felt remorseful He was sorrowful and repented But we know that not enough
10:29
Judas also betrayed Yahshua. Both Peter and Judas felt sorry for their mistake. But what was the
10:36
difference between the two? Peter changed and Judas hound himself. So that's a powerful illustration of repentance
10:46
We can all for remorseful, regret our actions, and weep all we want
10:51
But if our feeling sorry does not change our way of thinking and affect our lives, then that is useless
10:59
Notice how the Apostle Paul described what true repentance is in 2 Corinthians 7, verse 9 to 11
11:06
We read, Now I rejoice not that you were made sorry, but your sorrow led to repent
11:12
For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing
11:20
For a godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted, but the sorrow of the world produces death
11:30
For observe this very thing that you sorrowed in a godly manner, what diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire
11:42
what zeal, what vindication. In all things, you proved yourself to be clear in this matter
11:50
In short, repentance is more than just being sorry. But it is the process of asking for forgiveness
11:56
in making a commitment to turning away from your sin. And that is what Peter did
12:03
These are some of the best lessons we can learn from the life of Peter. As you can see, Peter isn't perfect
12:10
but his life is a great source of blessings that we must apply in our daily lives
12:16
He committed a lot of mistakes when he was with Christ, and certainly he still made mistakes after the death of his master
12:23
However, as we can see, in spite of these mistakes, God was able to use Peter in so many powerful ways
12:31
If God can use Peter, he can also use us. We just have to let God guide us and obey his loss
12:38
and fulfill his purpose in our life. I hope this video has inspired and motivated you to be more passionate about doing the will of God
