What is the first thing that comes into your mind when you hear the words law and grace

Law and grace. Now, if you ask people, or most people, they believe that these things, or the law and grace, could not coexist together

It's either you will live under the law or you will live under grace

So most people would easily say that, oh, we don't have to live under God's law

have to keep the Sabbath. We don't have to keep the food law, the appointed times of God

We don't have to. We only have to love each other because all we need is love. All we need is the grace of God and we can be saved

So most people, the prevalent thinking of most Christians today is that you are only, you only have to love God and then you don't have to follow this loss

anymore. All right. So, there is one particular passage in the Bible that seems to support this

And if you're going through this passage, at first glance, it looks confusing, all right

It looks confusing because the writer says that the law is good, and then he would explain that it is not

So in the first glance, it's kind of confusing. and he's making a contradiction out of his writings

So some people would go to his letters, actually most of his letters

some people would use his letters to say or support the teaching that God's law has already been done away

Now this is a huge topic, but I just want to focus in this one particular passage found in Romans chapter 7, verse 7

Right? Romans 7 verse 7 Let's just go through it very quickly so that

be confused and use this passage to support their teaching Right, let's go there

Actually this is Roman 7 from verse 7 to 12 What shall we say then

Is the law seen? Certainly not. On the contrary, I would not

have known sin except through the law for I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said

You shall not covet. Verse 8. But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire

For apart from the law, sin was dead. I was alive once without the law

So Paul was saying, I'm alive when there was no law. But when the commandment came, sin revived and I died

And the commandment which was to bring life, it was supposed to give life, I found to bring death

For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me

Therefore, the law is holy, and the commandment holy, just and good

Can you get see, brethren? That it seems that the apostle Paul was saying that the law is not seen

and then at the middle of this passage is saying that, It is causing him to sin, it has caused him death

And then in verse 12, he would go on to say, therefore the law is holy, the commandant holy and just in good

So it's kind of confusing at first. So I want us to go through this verse and look it up and see what the apostle longueau really have to say about the law

So let's go to the first message here. verse. It says, what shall we say then? Is the law sin? So apparently, the apostle

the law said. Okay? So the Apostle Paul is telling us that the law shows us what sin is

found out that he's actually a sinner. So this is what is happening to Paul, that he is finding out that through the law

So that is what he was saying here. And first said, and the commandment, which was to bring life, I found to bring death

Of course, if you are going to keep the commandments, it will bring life

It will help you to live a blessed and fulfilling life. But if we're going to break it, then there's death

It will bring the death penalty. In verse 11 for sin taking occasion by the commandment deceived me and by it killed me How does sin deceive you brethren A lot of ways Sin will tell you that it is okay to break God law

But at the end, it would be destruction. That's how sin could deceive and kill you

And that's why in verse 12, brethren, the apostle Paul was like, just in case you didn't understand, let me conclude this with these words

Therefore, the law is holy and the commandment, holy and just and good

Does that sound like a person who wants to do away with God's law

I don't think so, brethren. So he was saying that, yes, The law would introduce you what sin is, what sin is, but at the end it is holy, it is just and good

You know what, brethren? The fault is not in the law. The fault is in us, human beings, because of our failure to keep it

Now, the law can show us what sin is, but it doesn't have the power to deliver us from sin

Let's go to our final scripture here. Efficient 2, verse 8 to 9

Efficient 2 verse 8 to 9. Sadly, this verse is being abused by a lot of people

For by grace, you have been saved by... For by grace you have been saved through faith

Even if you keep the law perfectly from this day up to the end of your life, which is impossible

you cannot undo your past sins in your life. So you need a savior
