You probably have heard these words when filming a movie. It's quite astonishing how in movies you can have unlimited takes

If you don't get it right the first time, the director would simply shout, cut

And then you can have take 2, take 3, take 4 and so on

You see, recently we watched the movie Rewind. The MTCRB gave it a rated PG

It means that anyone can watch the movie, but children who are 13 years old and below should be accompanied by their parents

The reason is that the main character would use words of profanity and there are some scenes that are not suitable for all audiences

So, after all, this is a secular movie and you really can't expect it to be 100% Christian friendly

But nevertheless, if you can filter out those things, The movie actually teaches some vital lessons that we already know but still fail to apply them

Just to give you a quick summary of the movie. The movie is about a married couple, John and Mary, and they have a child whose name is Austin

John was so preoccupied with his work that he turned into a grumpy and self-centered man

He wasn't just, he wasn't really liked this before during their initial time and their

during their marriage, but these were kind of become very overwhelming and demanding, and so

he kind of neglected his time with his family. So eventually he neglected his family

and they would always argue, and thankfully Mary was kind of very, very understanding, and she would

really take care of John. So one day, he and his wife

had an argument while on their way to their child's school performance. Sadly, they had an

accident and this caused Mary's death. John was filled with anger and then remorse and disappointment

and he drinks, he drinks a lot, and because of that, he kind of neglected again Austin

and the grandmother of Austin took away the child from John and so it was really a very, I would say

a difficult grieving process for John. And that's when he met God, okay

So there's this guy in the movie who represented God. So that one night, God appeared to John and made a deal with him

So God said, John really wanted to undo his past mistakes. And so he bargained with God

And God said, okay, I will let you go back at the time

and write the wrong things that you've done for your family. And they made a deal, and eventually John was taken back in time

and that's when he tried to undo his past mistakes. It was really a touching movie

During the time, he had his rewind. He went to his wife

They had a date, and then he made a... He thanked his boss, even though he didn't get his promotion

And there's just a lot of things that he did that he would not even do if that didn't happen

He didn't make the realization about going back in time. Now, I won't provide more details, okay, because I might be spoiling the movie

those who want to still watch the movie so I won give much details But the movie was truly moving and touching I would be lying if I told you I didn cry throughout the movie

Perhaps what truly moved me is the fact that we are all going to die

Our loved ones will die, our family members will die. It is not a question of if, but when

It is just a matter of time before our time is up

The Bible is very clear about this. We read in Hebrews 9, verse 27

It says, And as it is appointed for men to die once

but after this, the judgment. You see, brethren, death is a great equalizer

Whether you are young or old, rich or poor, you are male or female

everyone would experience death unless Yahshu will return and give us immortal bodies

Knowing and understanding that we are all going to die, should wake us up and make sure we have the right priorities in life

Now, going back to the movie, what transformed the main character that's John

What transformed John from a self-centered, egoistic, and grumpy man? And he was transformed to a loving, caring, and understanding husband

You know what changed? You know what transformed him? It is by knowing he would soon die

I mean, that made me think If we're going to die tomorrow

Will we be more understanding Loving and caring Just in case, all right

Just in case if you knew that you are going to die tomorrow Would you still spend so much time in being bitter Being

will we still make the same choices in life will we choose our families

leisurely activities now here's what's more interesting in the movie if dying tomorrow

is a possibility for you it is equally true that your love

ones could also die tomorrow. Now, I don't want to scare you, okay

I don't want to make you paranoid that tomorrow is going to be a deadly thing, that

that thing would happen. No, that's not the point of this message, you know

I just want to make you realize that death is as real as life

It is not something that would, that is, I would say, that is something that's abstract

that it will not happen in your life. It is really something that is real

It could happen to anyone of us. Does anyone of you have any guarantee that you would live tomorrow

That you would live next week, next year? No, everyone doesn't have any guarantee that we will still be here

That's why this is just mind-blowing, knowing that you are, if you are going to realize that by any time you would be dying, you would die

If you know that your loved ones could die anytime, would that make you be more understanding and patient with them

And if we going to if we knew that they will not be here forever are we still going to respond or react that way Would you be more patient with them knowing that your time on earth is limited

Now, I believe we need to live our lives as if we are going to die tomorrow

Because someday, that will be true. It will come true. In the same manner, we need to treat each other as if it would be our last moment

them by having this kind of perspective we will surely be more loving we will be more patient and

caring now i personally knew someone who has unresolved issues with his grandfather and sadly her grandfather

already died before they have this issue resolved and because of that even though his grandfather

already died many years ago that person is still by the fact that they were not in good terms by his grandfather

So you could just imagine, no, this tells us that we should be

we should resolve, we should remove our bitterness, our anger, our hatred as soon as possible

Because you never know when you would still have the chance to make it up with that person

to be able to reconcile with that person. So it is very important for us to realize that we don't have

have much time. We don't have much time actually. Time is running out. Time sticking away each

moment. Another lesson I learned from the movie is that the most precious gift that you can give

to your family and loved ones is your time. It is not the latest gadgets like smartphones

tablets, and personal computers. It is not expensive clothing or the pieces of jewelry

You see, those material wealth, those possessions from events, actually fade. But the beautiful moments

you share with your loved ones will never be forgotten. Personally, I cannot really remember

all the things that my parents gave me. What I really remember

are those treasured moments that I spend with them. Those moments that

when we look back during that time, we think that it's really insignificant

But when you grow old, actually those are the moments that you will remember the most

Redeeming the time. Redeeming the time means buying it back. It means to be more conscious about how I spend your time

Part of that is having the wisdom to know where we should spend it

You might be too busy working that you didn't notice your loved ones are growing apart or far from you

Most importantly, we need to be. to spend more time with our Heavenly Father in prayer by postadi meditation and fasting We can simply neglect our relationship with Yahweh What amazing about the movie as well as that it includes importance of prayer

In a secular world we are living in, it's a breath of fresh air to watch a movie that includes the Christian faith

Austin, the son of Janet Mary, prayed to God like talking to a friend

Now, it got me thinking again that sometimes, we think that God only cares about the big and serious stuff in our lives

But actually, he's also interested in the smaller details in our lives

Like Austin, Austin was praying to God and talking to him about almost everything in his life

And another lesson from the movie is that when things seem not to make sense

you simply have to put your trust in God. that his plan is greater than our plans

You may not know what the future holds, but God knows. And he has a plan which is much better than what we have

Brethren, I hope that we realize how precious life is. And at the same time, how life can be so unpredictable

One moment you're healthy, the next moment. you're fighting for your life

One moment you're with your family, the next moment you can't be with them no matter how hard you want to

Let us do our best to live each moment in the best way we can

Spend time with your families and friends. Don't neglect your relationship with your Heavenly Father

So that at the end of your life, you will have no regrets

regrets. Just like the main character, the movie. He has a lot of regrets, but thankfully he was

given a reward, rewind. In the movie, when he was trying to bargain with God, he made promises

He said, if you let me live, I will live better. I will love better. And John was given a chance

to undo his past mistakes. In effect, he got a real. He got a real

rewind in life. However, sadly, our life is not a movie. We can't simply push

the rewind button. We can simply ask the director to have a second take or

a third take when we commit a mistake. Two ones going to shout

cut, take two. No. This is our life. It moves forward. It doesn't go backward

Thankfully, God gives us another day to live this life. And each day is a brand new chance for us to live better and to love better

Let us not waste our God-given time because one day we will not be here anymore to make the right decisions

And we could not undo our past mistakes. So live this life as if it's the only day that you have, making the most of every moment that you have

so that when you finally lay down on your deathbed, you can look back on your life and say the same words

that the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4 verse 7. I have fought the good fight
