Did you know there are a lot of misunderstandings and misconceptions about the New Covenant that are popularly prevailing in the world of Christianity?

In fact, these wrong teachings are so common that almost everyone accepts it as the truth!

No one is even bothered to ask whether what they are being taught about the New Covenant is correct or not. Most Christians, today, blindly follow blind leaders. Sad to say, without the correct knowledge, many will fall down the proverbial ditch.

What do most Christians believe?

The common understanding of the New Covenant follow this reasoning:

The Old Covenant is the Ten Commandments and other laws of God.

When you go to the New Testament, the New Covenant has replaced the Old Covenant.

The New Covenant contains only grace and promises.

With this in mind, since we are now living under the New Covenant, it only follows that the Ten Commandments and other laws of God are of no effect anymore.

In short, the New Covenant abolishes God’s commandments and laws.

A confusing dilemma most Christians face

IF the New Covenant abolishes God’s law, then it follows that there might be something wrong in God’s law for it to be eliminated, right?

Well, a lot of people think that the law of God is harsh, unfair, and even irrational.

Now, if you come and think of it for a second: if the fault was in God’s laws and it was God who gave it, then the fault must have been with GOD!

To make things even crazier, a lot of people teach and believe that Yahshua (Jesus Christ) came to earth to THROW AWAY His Father’s law and teach that Christians are free to do whatever they please as long as they love one another.

Now, that’s totally absurd teaching, don’t you think?

If there’s no law to outline what love is, then how can one know what love is, how to demonstrate it, and how to express it? After all, love can be different from one person to another.

Consider this

If the New Covenant abolished God’s Ten Commandments, then does this mean we are free to steal, kill, commit adultery, lie, dishonor our parents, and do other things that the Ten Commandments forbid?

Well, most Christians would say no!

They would argue, “We only follow what was repeated in the New Testament.”

So, they would accept every single one of the Ten Commandments except for one. Do you know what that is? It’s the Fourth Commandment — the Sabbath law.

Yet, if you read through the New Testament, you will find the word “Sabbath” mentioned more than 50 times!

So, what is it really that Christians hate about God’s law?

Why is the common New Covenant teaching popular?

We need to ask, why do so many Christians would love to believe that the New Covenant abolishes God’s law?

Let me present to you two possible reasons.

Number 1: we are carnally minded

Most Christians today are only “Christians” by name. There’s no real conversion. Some hardly open their Bibles let alone join church services. If they do, they only do it at least one hour in one week!

So, how do you expect the Word of God to transform their lives? As a result, most Christians would choose the easy road that is supposed to lead to eternal life.

What road is it? The road of not doing anything, but just believing in Yahweh (the Father) and Yahshua. That’s perfectly what the popular but misleading New Covenant teaching upholds!

Here’s what the Apostle Paul wrote:

“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God” (Romans 8:7-8),

Did you catch that? The carnal mind is enmity — enemy — against God. It means that if we don’t convert our carnal mind, the default setting would be to seek the easy way out.

Because a lot of Christians today are carnally minded, they don’t want to be subject to the law of God. As a result, they would rather believe that the New Covenant abolishes God’s Law!

Number 2: Satan deceived the whole world

Satan’s deception has made it a lot easier for the New Covenant myths to dominate the mind of Christians.

We read in Revelation 12:9:

“So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Revelation 12:9).

Please read that again. It says, Satan “DECEIVES the WHOLE world.” Not just a part of it or a portion of it, but the WHOLE world!

II Corinthians 4:4 even adds that the god of this world is Satan. He is even called the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2)!

That’s why it is not difficult to see that modern Christianity today, with its 2 billion adherents, could easily be wrong in the majority of teachings they hold.

That includes the New Covenant teaching. Don’t be surprised if one day, you will stumble upon the truth and see that modern Christianity today is diametrically opposed to Christianity in the first century!
