0:27
what should I pray for? To answer this question, we are going to go through the modal prayer that our master himself
0:35
taught us on how to pray, which we can read in Matthew 6, verses 9 to 13
0:40
And by doing so, we will find the five specific things we should pray for according to our Savior

1:56
Can you just imagine being able to talk to the most powerful being in this vast universe
2:03
It just leaves you in awe and respect as you ponder on the power of prayer
2:09
In the Bible, there are certain things we should specifically pray for
2:14
Now, there are just a lot of them, but today we are going to focus on what Jesus thought that we should pray for
2:20
To help us better understand, let's go to Matthew 6, verse 9 to 13
2:25
in this manner therefore pray our father in heaven hallowed be your name your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our deaths as we forgive our debtors
2:42
and do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever amen
2:52
With that, let's extract the five specific things we should pray for according to our master
2:59
Let's go to the first one. Pray for God's kingdom. After praising the Father, Yeshua proceeds by praying about what we should all focus on
3:10
God's kingdom. He said, your kingdom come. That's in Matthew 6 verse 10
3:16
This world is in great chaos and mess. It is filled with pains and suffering
3:21
For thousands of years, human beings tried to rule on this earth
3:27
Nevertheless, we just prove one thing. Humans ultimately fail in bringing lasting peace and abundance on this earth
3:36
Thus, what we should pray for is God's kingdom to be established here on earth
3:42
It is the only solution to human suffering. Now, pray for God's kingdom is crucial because of the following reasons
3:50
First, we need God's divine intervention to remove suffering from this world
3:56
Next we acknowledge his sovereignty and authority overall aspects of our lives in the world around us We invite his presence and power to transform hearts minds and societies
4:09
assuring in his kingdom of righteousness, peace and love. Fourth, praying for God's kingdom is our expression of willingness to actively
4:19
participate in God's work here in earth. And finally, God's kingdom gives us hope in the midst of life's difficulties and trials
4:29
As you can see, praying for God's kingdom is crucial and should be part of our prayers
4:36
It should be our daily hope in this dying world. Number 2. Pray for God's will to be done
4:44
The next key petition we should be praying for is for God's will to be done as we read in Matthew 6 verse 10
4:51
Your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven
4:56
Life is full of choices but there's one choice. there's one choice that will never go wrong
5:01
and that is to choose the will of God in your life. Remember, God is perfect
5:07
and his will for you is perfect as well. It is the best thing you can ever ask from God
5:13
that his will and purpose be done. So what does it mean to pray for God's will to be done
5:20
Here are some important insights. Number one, we surrender to God. Praying for God's will to be done means
5:27
we surrender our own plans and desires to the divine purpose of our Heavenly Father
5:33
It's a prayer of humility, a recognition that God's wisdom far surpasses our own
5:40
and this sovereignty reigns supreme over every aspect of our lives. Number two, we trust in God
5:48
When we pray for God's will to be done, it's not just about uttering the words
5:53
it's about aligning our hearts with His. trusting in his goodness and sovereignty even when it's challenging
6:01
It means letting go of our own agendas and preferences and instead embracing his perfect plan for us
6:09
It's an act of faith. A declaration that we believe his plans are for our ultimately good
6:16
even when they may not align with our immediate desires. But let's be real
6:21
It's not always easy to pray this way. Surrendering our will to gods can be
6:26
I struggle, especially when his plans seem unclear or different from what we had envisioned for
6:32
ourselves. Yet in those moments, we're invited to lean into our relationship with him, to trust that
6:39
he knows what's best for us, even when we can't see the bigger picture
6:45
Number three, we obey God. Praying for God's will to be done requires more than just words
6:51
It requires a heart posture of obedience and surrender. It's about seeking his guidance in every decision, big or small, and trusting that he will lead us in the right direction
7:04
It's a journey of faith, marked by moments of uncertainty, and moments of profound trust in the one who holds our lives in his hands
7:14
So as we utter these words in prayer, let's do so with the humility and faith, knowing that we serve a God who loves us deeply and desires what's best for us
7:26
May we continually seek His will in all things, trusting that his plans for us are far greater than we could ever imagine
7:35
Number three, pray for daily provision. The next specific petition we should make to God is to ask for our daily bread as we read in Matthew 6.11
7:44
Give us this day our daily bread. Now remember, God is our father
7:50
And as a loving father, he gives us what we need. He provides sustenance and blessings
7:56
God is the ultimate source of all good things in life. So we should not hesitate to ask God for our daily provision Here are some important points we should remember when praying for our daily bread First one we acknowledge our dependence on God
8:14
We should not commit the mistake of thinking that it is our knowledge, our skills, and abilities
8:20
that help us acquire the good things in life. No, it is not because we are good, but God is good
8:29
We must recognize how dependent we are on God. From the air we breathe to the food that we eat, all these come from him
8:38
When we pray for daily provision, we're not just asking for our next meal
8:44
We're recognizing that every breath we take, every morsel of food we consume
8:49
is ultimately a gift from our heavenly father. It's a prayer that encompasses our daily needs
8:56
from the sustenance that nourishes our bodies to the spiritual nourishment that feeds our souls
9:02
Number two, asking for God's providence is an act of faith. In a world filled with uncertainty and challenges, praying for daily provision is an act of faith
9:16
It's a declaration that we trust in God's unfailing faithfulness to provide for us, no matter the circumstances
9:24
It's a reminder to lean on him for our every need, knowing that he sees us, cares for us, and will never leave us
9:32
wanting. Number three, reminder to share our blessings. But it's not just about receiving. It's also
9:41
about giving. When we pray for our daily bread, we are reminded of the blessings we have received
9:48
and the responsibility we have to share those blessings with others. It's a call to generosity
9:55
compassion, and solidarity with those who have less. As we receive from God's abundance
10:01
we're called to extend that abundance to others, meeting their needs to the same grace and love that we have received
10:09
So let's pray for daily provision with hearts full of gratitude and trust
10:13
knowing that our Heavenly Father delights in providing for his children. And as we receive His blessings, let's also be channels of His provision
10:23
sharing his love and abundance with those around us. Number four, pray for forgiveness
10:29
Christ reminds us to pray and forgive us our deaths as we forgive our debtors
10:37
Remember, we are all sinners. We don't just hurt God through our sinful actions, but we also hurt others
10:46
One of the most important parts of our prayer is repentance. This prayer isn't just about admitting our mistakes
10:53
It's about recognizing our inherent human frailty and our propensity to full-shoulders
10:59
short of God's perfect standard. It's an acknowledgement of our need for his grace and mercy and our desperate dependence
11:07
on his forgiveness to cleanse us from sin. Praying for forgiveness isn't a one-sided transaction
11:14
It's a call to action, actually. It prompts us to examine our hearts, to confront our shortcomings, and to humbly confess
11:22
our sins before God. It's a courageous step towards reconciliation, a willingness to lay bare
11:29
our faults and seek restoration with our heavenly father and with those we've drawn
11:35
But forgiveness doesn't end there. It's also a challenge, a challenge to extend the same
11:41
grace and mercy we have received to others. Just as we've been forgiven by God, we are called
11:47
to forgive those who have wronged us. It's a radical act of love and compassion, born out
11:54
of gratitude for the immense forgiveness we've been shown. So let's pray for
11:59
forgiveness with sincerity and humility, knowing that our Heavenly Father stands ready to forgive us
12:07
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness And let walk in the freedom of forgiveness extending grace and mercy to others as we have been graciously forgiven others
12:19
And finally, number five, pray for protection. Let's explore the final plea in the Lord's Prayer
12:26
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. In these words, we confront the harsh reality
12:33
of spiritual warfare and the relentless assault of temptation and darkness in our
12:38
our lives. Praying for protection isn't a passive plea for safety. It's a bold cry for God's strength
12:45
and guidance to navigate the treacherous waters of temptation and evil. It's an acknowledgement of
12:52
our vulnerability and our desperate need for its divine intervention to shield us from harm
12:58
When we pray for protection, we're not just asking for a shield to deflect incoming attacks
13:03
We're seeking God's wisdom and discernment to recognize the snares of the enemy
13:08
and the pitfalls of temptation. It's a call to arms, a rallying cry for spiritual vigilance
13:15
and resilience in the face of adversity. But protection isn't just about repelling external threats
13:22
It's also about fortifying our internal defenses. It's about cultivating spiritual discernment and wisdom
13:29
sharpening our spiritual senses to recognize and resist the subtle whispers of temptation and deception
13:36
It's about anchoring our sense, in God's promises and standing firm on his truth
13:43
knowing that he is our ultimate source of strength and security. So let's pray for protection with boldness and confidence
13:51
knowing that our Heavenly Father stands ready to guard and preserve us from every evil scheme
13:58
And as we walk in his protection, let's cultivate spiritual discernment and wisdom
14:03
trusting in his promises to lead us safely through the trials and tribulation
14:08
of life. In summary, the Lord's Prayer or the Model Prayer provides us with a comprehensive
14:16
framework for effective and transformative prayer as thought by Jesus Christ himself. Each petition
14:23
within it offers profound insights into the essential aspects of prayer and spiritual life. By incorporating
14:31
these five points into our prayers, we not only communicate with God but also deepen our relationship
14:37
with him. Through prayer, we align our hearts with God's will, surrendering our desires
14:43
and plans to its divine purpose. This alignment allows us to experience the transformative
14:49
power prayer, shaping our lives according to his perfect plan. May we continually seek
14:56
the pray in accordance with the teachings of Jesus, trusting in the faithfulness and goodness of our
15:02
heavenly father, and experiencing the profound transformation that comes to. from a life grounded in prayer
