Most Christians today believe that Jesus died to free us from the Law of God, which includes the keeping of the Sabbath. A lot of people keep Sunday, instead of the Biblical Sabbath day. Some also believed that Jesus kept the Sabbath and other parts of God's law so that we don't have to keep them. However, are these beliefs correct? Can we simply keep the 9 commandments and ignore the fourth one? In this video, let us settle the case once and for all. Yahshua saw the Sabbath as a perfect day for him to reveal himself as the anointed one

then it should also be important to us. Because of Christ's perfect observance of the Sabbath

inevitably he will soon face the religious leaders of his days. These religious leaders, like the Pharisees

added so many rules and regulations to the Sabbath, to the point that the Sabbath was made into a burden instead of a blessing

So the religious leaders were questioning Christ's authority. They were accusing Yahshua of changing the traditions and leading people astray

That's why the greatest and perfect teacher had to establish his irrefutable authority by making a bold and powerful claim

We read in Matthew 12 verse 8, For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath

In case you don't believe Matthew's account, the Bible needed to repeat this proclamation three times

just to make an important point. We read in Mark 2 verse 28

Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath. Then in Luke 6 verse 5

You can't get any clearer than that. Through these three verses, Christ fully established his authority over the Sabbath

By claiming that Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, he was making an authoritative claim

So think about this for a second. If Jesus or Yahshua is the Lord of the Sabbath

then who is the Lord of Sunday worship? If Christ is on the Sabbath

Well, you can answer that question for yourself, but I can tell you with all certainty

It is like this. If your teacher says that he will be available on Saturday

and he teaches his class every Saturday, but you choose to take his class on Sunday

will you be able to meet each other? Obviously not. If you insist on meeting your teacher on Sunday

when he's on Saturday, then you can either follow the schedule of your teacher

Another statement made by Yahshua that should question people's usual attitude towards the Sabbath

is found in Mark 2 verse 27. He said, The Sabbath was made for men

and not men for the Sabbath. Now remember, during this time, the Jewish leaders added so many meticulous

and impossible to keep regulations to the Sabbath. As a result, the Sabbath's purpose was changed so much

that it wasn't the Sabbath God had given them. We must remember that God made the Sabbath for us

It is not the other way around. The Sabbath was not made to enslave us

through burdensome regulations. For the Jewish leaders, it was like the children were made for the toys

As you can see, The Sabbath was made to benefit all of humanity

and not just a few selected people. Now, if you are part of the human race

then the Sabbath is for you. That's one of the best pieces of news that you will hear

This means that God loves you so much, whether you are Jew or not

that he gave you one day of the week to give your body rest

and to know more about him as your father. Now, if you don't consider yourself as part of the human race

then feel free to break God's Sabbath because it is not made for you

Plain and simple. Some people believe that Christ kept the Sabbath so that we don't have to

However, is that what the Bible really teach? Let's not go far anymore

Let's go straight to Christ. Let's read what is said in Matthew 5 verse 17 to 19

Do not think, Christ is giving us a warning here, Do not think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets

I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill. Oh see, Christ already fulfilled the law

so that we don't have to keep it. Well, the problem with so many people is that

they stop reading there. They don't read the rest of the words of Yahshua

So let's read verse 18. Thirdly, I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass away

one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law

till all is fulfilled. Is heaven still here? Is the earth still here

Well, the obvious answer is yes. So the law is still applicable

Now, here's a crucial warning from Christ. Whoever, therefore, breaks one of the least of these commandments

and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven

Did you see that? Christ was saying that we should not break God's law

But no, people would teach that we can now break and ignore God's law

including the Sabbath. But whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven

Do you want to be called great? Then keep the Sabbath and God's law

As you can see, Joshua's clear teaching about the Sabbath is that we still need to observe it

Jesus made an irrefutable claim that he's the Lord of the Sabbath

and that the Sabbath was made for men. Christ kept the Sabbath

So why wouldn't you? Christ kept the Sabbath and set a vital example for us to emulate

If you're truly a follower of Jesus Christ, then you should also follow his customs

And part of that custom is keeping the Sabbath. Like Joshua, he didn't think of the Sabbath command as optional

but he saw to it that he kept it in the way his father intended it to be
