Let’s begin. The first name that we have here is Adam, which means “red earth” or “man.” Next, we have Seth, which came from a root word, which means “appointed.” Enosh came from a root word, which means “mortal.” Cainan or Kenan came from the root word meaning “sorrow.” Mahalel comes from the two root words meaning “blessed” or “praised” and El meaning “God.” In short, Mahalel means “Blessed God” or “Blessed of God.”

Next, we have Jared, which comes from a root word, “come down” or “descend.” Enoch can mean a few things which include “teach” or “train.”

Methuselah comes from a root word that could mean “his death shall bring.” Lamech means despairing” and Noah means “rest.”
