Stranded in an Island: A Lesson in Trusting God

In this video, read a story about a man who has lost everything but found something better by trusting God.

Once there was a man who was shipwrecked.

He managed to swim to a deserted island.

He found himself all alone.

Days, weeks, and months have gone and yet, it seems that no one is coming to his aid.

He prayed earnestly to God for help.

However, one night, his makeshift hut caught on fire.

To make things worse, all the food and supplies he has gathered are in that hut.

With no hope in sight, he cried out to God and asked Him why he let this tragedy happen to him.

After all, being stranded on an island all alone is enough for anyone to go insane.

But to have all his supplies burned to nothing in an instant is more than enough for anyone to reach their breaking point.

The man fell asleep that night – crying with a feeling of hopelessness.

When tomorrow came, he woke up to a familiar sound.

What he thought was a dream was now a reality.

He was hearing the sound of a boat coming near the island.

With all his might, he called for help.

To his surprise, he didn’t need to yell for help anymore because the boat was already going in his direction.

He was rescued that day.

Once he was on board, he asked the captain:

“How did you know that someone is on that island looking for help?”

The captain replied, “We saw the fire last night and thought we should check it out.”

That moment, the man fell down, cried, and thanked God for his goodness.

Reflection

Have you experienced that time when you feel like things are just not going according to plan?

We all have those moments.

However, know that in those moments, God is still there.

You may not understand what may be happening right now, but time will come when you can look back and say, “Aah. So that’s why.”

It will all wonderfully make sense.

You will eventually connect the dots.

Life will throw you all kinds of problems.

Sometimes, you can withstand it, but sometimes, it brings you down to your knees.

When these things happen, know that God is always there – working out a plan for you.

Deuteronomy 31:6 tells us:

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for Yahweh your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Today, you may not understand what you’re going through.

But time will come that you will.

If not in this lifetime, it will be in the life to come.

Yes, it is difficult to go through trials without knowing why or where it will lead.

Just trust God. Have faith in Him.

He has your best interest in mind. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
