Are you angry at God?

A lot of people would say, “yes.”

You might be angry at God in the past and perhaps, you might be angry at God even now.

So many people have turned their back to God because of anger. This anger can be caused by a lot of things, but at its core, you become angry at God when your expectations are not met.

It could be that God didn’t answer your prayer in the way you want it to be. Perhaps, you’re angry because God didn’t prevent bad things from happening in your life. In some cases, you might be angry because God seems unfair and indifferent to your suffering.

Whatever the reason you’re angry at God, I would like to present to you the 7 things you must remember when you feel like you’re starting to hate God.

Remembering these 7 things would help you better understand your situation, why God is responding in a way you don’t understand, and most importantly, prevent you from getting angry at God.

1. Angry at God? Problems are a normal part of life

There are a lot of Christians who thought that life would be free of problems and difficulties once they become a follower of God. This is commonly preached by prosperity Gospel teachers.

However, the Bible tells us something, which is completely contrary to this belief. The Bible plainly says:

“We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God” (Acts 14:22).

The reason some people get angry with God is they thought that the Most High owes them a good life. They expected God to give them what they want and when they don’t get their answered prayer, they immediately feel cheated.

As a result, they become angry.

To avoid this, we must always remember that problems are not just a normal part of life, but they MUST be expected!

2. Angry at God? Jesus Christ died for us

One thing you should always remind yourself of when you are tempted to be angry at God is the ultimate sacrifice He has made for all of us. He paid the biggest price just to save and redeem us from the penalty of sin.

Can you imagine a loving Father giving up His Son to die for the sins of rebellious, stiff-necked, and ungrateful people?

Humanly speaking, it would be difficult for us to fathom the love of Yahweh.

Now, here’s something to think about:

If God has already done the most difficult sacrifice in the known universe, would it be too difficult for Him to grant us everything that we need?

Why am I asking you this?

Because God loves you so much that He will do everything for you. Now, if you are angry because your expectations weren’t met, let me tell you this:

God’s plan is far GREATER than any of your expectations. Whatever the reason you’re angry at God, that reason is nothing compared to God’s incredible love for you.

3. Angry at God? Our Father will give everything that’s good for you

I want you to always remember Psalm 84:11:

For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
The LORD will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.

Yahweh, the Most High God, has our best interest in mind — ALWAYS.

In every decision He makes, in every move He takes, in every emotion He feels, He always puts our welfare at the forefront of everything.

I’m telling you this because as Psalm 84:11 tells us, NO good thing God will withhold from us.

If it is something bad for us, God will not grant it.

If it is something good for us, then He will give it to us!

If you prayed for something but you didn’t get it, don’t get angry, but instead, you should be happy.

You know why?

Because God is holding back something that could harm you.

He is reserving the things that would be for our benefit and those things that would help us reach our God-given destiny.

4. Angry at God? Focus on what He has done

Whatever we are going through right now, we must not let problems and difficulties distract us from the goodness of God.

Let me tell you, no matter how big your problem is, there is always, ALWAYS, something in your life that proves God’s goodness to you.

The problem is this:

We are so focused on the things that God didn’t give us to the point that we can’t see the things that God already gave us.

There are a lot of things God has given us that we didn’t even ask!

Focus on the goodness of God.

You will then surely then feel the anger in your heart slowly dissipating.

5. Angry at God? Rejoice in tribulation

Instead of getting angry, bitter, frustrated, and disappointed, the Apostle Peter told us something that we must all apply. Let’s continue reading I Peter 4:12-14:

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

It may sound crazy to our human nature, but that’s what the Apostle Peter told us.

We must rejoice in tribulation.

Why?

Peter gave us the reason:

We must rejoice because we become partakers of Christ’s suffering!

Peter was saying that if you are suffering right now because of following God, to no fault of your own, instead of getting discouraged, frustrated, or bitter, we must rejoice because we have become partakers of the suffering of Christ.

We are experiencing the same suffering that the Messiah endured. The difficulties we are experiencing are the same difficulties that Yahshua (Jesus) experienced.

Now, here’s something to take note of:

Because we have been partakers of Yahshua’s suffering, we will also become partakers of His glory.

Wow! Can you just stop and think about what that really means?

Because we suffer with Christ through the tribulation we are going through right now, we have also suffered with Him.

Our suffering is not in vain. Our suffering has a purpose. Our suffering has a meaning.

The sacrifices we make for God will never go to waste.

And that’s one reason why you shouldn’t be angry at God.

6. Angry at God? Remember the bigger the problem, the bigger the solution

You see friends, one of the reasons why God allows you to go through trials, difficulties, and problems is that God wants to show you His power and glory.

The more difficult a problem is, the more power is manifested when God intervenes. Sometimes, He allows impossible problems so that when He intervenes, you can conclusively say without a shadow of a doubt that it wasn’t you who solved the problem, but God.

Impossible situations call for the impossible God — the God who can do impossible things.

Now, here’s the thing: once God has finally intervened, you will become a living testimony to His greatness, love, and favor. You become a living example that God is indeed alive and is still on His Throne.

The throne is not empty that your prayers would be useless. He is there working out a plan greater than any plan you can imagine.

So, if you feel like your problem is too big for you to handle, surrender it to God and let go of it.

Let God fight the battle for you. Let God do what you can’t do. Let God do the impossible.

7. Angry at God? Be prepared to rule in His Kingdom

More than anything else, God is preparing you to become a future ruler in His glorious Kingdom.

If it will take a lot of testing, difficulties, and problems to prepare you for that role, then God will allow it so that you will be part of that glorious Kingdom.

Here’s a reminder:

God would not allow a trial in your life if it will prevent you from reaching your destiny.

God will not allow a problem to come in your life that you can’t handle. All those difficulties are not there to keep you from the Kingdom, but to prepare you for the Kingdom.

God is not against you. He is for you. He is rooting for you and He wants you to be part of His family.

1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us:

¹³ No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Anger, bitterness, frustrations, and disappointments are never the right response, but instead, trust in God. Be faithful and steadfast. Yahweh didn’t bring you this far just to leave and forsake you (Philippians 4:6).
