Today’s reading: Isaiah 55:6

Seek the LORD

We read in Isaiah 55:6:

6 Seek the LORD while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.

The prophet Isaiah distills a sense of urgency to God’s people. If we are going to seek Yahweh, we must seek Him now. We must seek Him when He can still be found. We must seek Him while He is still near.

This verse tells us that there will come a time when all is too late — that no matter how hard you try, you will not find God anymore.

When will this happen? This happens when we have willingly abandoned our faith and have knowingly and intentionally chosen to disobey God. When we become incorrigibly wicked, we lose hope for repentance.

Time will come as well when the Word of God would be banned. All His servants are already gone. Preaching His Word is punishable by death.

Learning and knowing about God would be difficult. As we know, faith comes from hearing. How can we know God when no one is there to teach us God’s word anymore?

That’s why, when we still have the chance, let’s seek God and continually seek Him. It’s not a one-time decision. It’s a decision you have to make every day of your life.

We seek God through prayer, Bible study, meditation, and fasting. We learn about Him and draw closer to Him.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. The best time to seek God and call upon Him is now.
