Today’s reading: Psalms 119:11

Hidden in my heart

We read in Psalms 119:11:

11 Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.

One of the best ways for us to avoid sinning is to remember the Words of God. By reading, knowing, and memorizing Bible verses, we are often reminded of what is good and what is evil.

With God’s word in our hearts, we are encouraged to continue in our Christian walk even at times when we feel discouraged. With God’s word in our hearts, we can use the eyes of faith and focus our vision on God’s Kingdom.

The heart represents our desires, thoughts, and motivations. It is the center of our being. It is where we put our treasures. It is a secret place that only we have access to.

Thus, if there’s one place where we should store God’s word, it must be our hearts. The Word of God should be closely intertwined with our desires, thoughts, and motivations. It should be the driving force that moves us. The Word of God is the lamp that lights our path and guides us in the right direction.

There are a lot of benefits to memorizing the Scripture. When you’re familiar with the Scripture, you can easily quote God’s word. Just like Yahshua in His battle against the devil, He was quick to draw the spiritual sword of God, which represents the Scripture.

Having God’s word inculcated in our hearts and minds could easily remind us how we should make decisions in our lives. Not only that but it makes Bible study and sharing the Word of God much easier.

With this in mind, make it a point to memorize Bible verses and of course, apply them in your life. We must always hide and store God’s word in our hearts so that whenever we need to use them, we can easily bring them out.

If there’s anything you need in your heart right now, it should be the Scripture.
