Today’s reading: Esther 4:13-14

For such a time as this

We read in Esther 4:13-14:

13 And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. 14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Yahweh is not limited. He can use different things, places, people, and situations to fulfill His purpose and protect His people.

We can see the faith of Mordecai when sending a message to Esther. Mordecai knew that God was able to deliver them from the hands of Haman with or without the help of Esther.

However, at the same time, Mordecai recognized the supernatural hand of God for putting Esther in the palace “for such a time as this.”

One important lesson we can learn here is that God has already arranged everything ahead of time. He is not taken by surprise. He knew this would happen and thus, long before Haman planned to destroy the Jews, God already had placed Esther in the Palace.

In the same manner, we should rejoice for Yahweh has already arranged our future. Everything that we need to accomplish His purpose and work, He has already provided and will provide in the future. These divine providences will come at the time when we need them.

God has already blessed us with the right skills, knowledge, and ability to help us follow Him. He will arrange things for us so that we can keep on following Him. He will remove the people who might get in the way. He will remove situations that are not part of His plan. He ensures that we have all that we need wherever and whenever we need them.

So, like Esther and Mordecai, have faith in God. In every command He makes, He also supplies all the things we need to follow them.

  1. What a wonderful encouragement of trusting in the power of God. We will endure and overcome through trusting His promises. He will never leave nor forsake those who belong to Him.
