Today’s reading: Joshua 1
Joshua’s name
The book of Joshua marks the end of the Exodus. It is now the time for a new leader to emerge and lead Israel to the Promised Land.
It’s quite astonishing for me to reflect upon the turn of events. For me, it is not a coincidence that the leader of Israel at this time is Joshua. Joshua’s name is identical to our Savior’s name.
Just like how Joshua led the Israelites to the Promised Land, Yashua also led God’s people into eternal life. We could see a lot of parallelisms here that I can’t discuss all. However, the battle of Joshua and Israel conquering the Promised Land is like the spiritual battle we also face.
We don’t fight our battles alone. We fight it with the help of Yahweh through His Son, Yahshua.
