📅 Faithful in the small things – Daily Bible Reading

Today’s reading: Deuteronomy 22:6-7

Faithful in the small things

We read in Deuteronomy 22:6-7:

6 “If a bird’s nest happens to be before you along the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, with the mother sitting on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young; 7 you shall surely let the mother go, and take the young for yourself, that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days.

Reading through this command, it seems to be too trivial and minor.

Yet, even this “small” matter comes with a promise.

It says, when you follow this command, it will be well with you and your days would even be prolonged.

I believe we must learn that faith starts small. When we are faithful in the small things such as taking care of animals, we will be given greater responsibilities in the Kingdom.

After all, how can you be faithful in the big things when you can’t be faithful in the small things?

(Just a side note, I hear a lot of people say that in its entirety, the Bible doesn’t mention anything about animal welfare. Actually, there are a few passages that talk about taking care of animals and this passage is one of them.)

To learn more about loving God, please watch, “What Does it Mean to Put your Hand on the Plow and Look Back? (Luke 9:62).”
