📅 How do you do things? – Daily Bible Reading

April 19, 2022

Today’s reading: I Corinthians 14:33, 40

Organized work

Reading through Numbers 3 and 4, we see the tremendous and meticulous work involved in taking care of the Tabernacle. Thus, a highly systematic and organized approach should be taken.

We see how Yahweh instructed Moses in the selection of the people who will manage the Tabernacle. We see how the tribe of Levi was specifically tasked to do this magnificent work.

The Almighty didn’t leave anything to chance. He has specific directives on how to do things. He told Moses who should be priests. He instructed how the Tabernacle would be taken down, piece by piece.

Not only that, but the Almighty also gave instructions about how to cover the different parts of the Tabernacle, who will carry it, how it should be transported, and so much more.

There are two lessons I learned from this.

One is that Yahweh is truly the God of order. 1 Corinthians 14:33 tells us that He is not the author of confusion. In verse 40 of the same chapter, we also read the biblical instruction for all things “be done decently and in order.”

The second lesson is that we all have a part to play in the service of the Almighty. We notice how the tribe of Levi was chosen for the work. However, not all Levites can be priests. In the same manner, the priests can’t do their job properly without the help of the other Levites.

When taking down and moving the Tabernacle, we see how everyone was given a role to play. For example, the Gershonites were tasked to take care of covering the Tabernacle. The Kohathites were to take care of the Tabernacle furniture and ark. The Merari family took care of the structures of the Tabernacle. Even the small and numerous parts of the Tabernacle were assigned one by one.

In the same manner, all of us have a role to play in the Assembly of the Almighty. No work is too insignificant. All things must work together if we want to effectively do the work of the Most High.

No matter who you are, or what station in life you may have, you can always have something to give, contribute, and impart. Don’t underestimate what you can do for God’s work. What little you may have, the Almighty can magnify to fulfill His plan on this earth.
