Today’s reading: Exodus 28:3-4

Garments

We read in Exodus 28:3-4:

So you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest.

4 And these are the garments which they shall make: a breastplate, an ephod, a robe, a skillfully woven tunic, a turban, and a sash. So they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons, that he may minister to Me as priest.

If you read the rest of Exodus 28, we see how elaborate and impressive the garments made for the priesthood. The garments were meticulously prepared and were made precisely as how God wanted them to be.

We see here how important it is for the people of God to be at their best when they present themselves before God.

Today, we are called by God every week to keep His Sabbath.

As future kings and priests in His kingdom, we must also be sensitive to what we wear.

This does not mean we spend fortunes on our clothing. It only means that we should have the right attitude when choosing how we appear before Yahweh.

Think about it, if you were invited by a King of a country and asked you to be part of a solemn ceremony in their great palace, how would you dress up?

Surely, if you are like any other people, you would be wearing the best clothes that you have.

How much more would you also wear presentable clothes when presenting yourself before Yahweh, who is above any kings or rulers of this world?
