How Christ Practiced Social Distancing

Do you know that Yahshua or Jesus Christ also practiced social distancing thousands of years ago? Not only that, but He didn’t simply do social distancing during pandemics, but He did it on a regular basis!

Yes, you read that right!

What is this social distancing that Christ did while He was physically here on earth?

Why did Christ have to distance Himself? What is its purpose? Most importantly, how can we use this social distancing technique in our daily lives?

Let’s learn the answer through the Bible!

The social distancing practiced by Christ

How can we develop the habit of prayer

There are a few verses that I would like to share with you. Here are some of them just to show you the type of social distancing Christ used.

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed” (Mark 1:35).

“And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray” (Mark 6:46).

“So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed” (Luke 5:16).

Did you notice something common from these verses?

Yes!

It was the custom of Yahshua or Jesus to go to a solitary place — away from the crowd.

And what does he do then?

He prayed.

For Christ, prayer is so important that He needs to be 100% focused in His time with God.

He doesn’t want anything or anyone to distract Him while He communes with His Heavenly Father.

No matter how busy Christ may have been, He makes it a point to talk to God in private.

How about us?

How about you?

Do you find yourself distancing from others to get closer to the Almighty?

Do you consider prayer to be an important part of your life?

Do you set aside enough time to pray and meditate on God’s word?

I hope the answer to these questions is yes.

I hope that we practice the type of social distancing that Christ practiced during His human life.

You know why?

Because more than anything else, this social distancing will not only save you from diseases or pandemics, but it will also help you avoid spiritual illness and most importantly, spiritual death.

As most of us are in quarantine and lockdown, we may have extra time on our hands. I hope we use that time wisely and use the time to be with God in prayer.

By spending focused time with the Most High, we become closer to Him and we are able to express ourselves better in prayer.

So, take the time to socially distance yourself from others.

Take a step away from the crowd and run to your Heavenly Father.

He is always there — ready to hear your prayer.
