Warning: This Post Will Change the Way You See Taylor Swift

From a sweet country singer to a rocking pop artist, we have seen a dramatic transformation of Taylor Swift. However, it was her last song that prompted me to write this blog.

Warning_ This Post Will Change the Way You See Taylor Swift

When you look around, what do you see?

If you ask me, I see a lot of things that make me sad and sigh.

What we think that is evil in the past has now become what is good.

Like what Isaiah wrote thousands of years ago:

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)

It’s a sobering world we live in today.

Taylor Swift’s song

You probably have heard the latest song by Taylor Swift, “You Need to Calm Down.”

The song features celebrities who outspokenly came out to support the LGBT community.

In the video, you will see, of course, Taylor Swift, Ellen Degeneres, Ryan Reynolds, and Katy Perry.

The whole song is about people who seem to be angry at others who have an unconventional sexual orientation.

These people, I would assume, represent the “Christians.”

The video portrays Christians as an angry mob while the LGBT community as happy and innocent group of people.

At the end of the video, you will read:

“Let’s show our pride by demanding that, on a national level, our laws truly treat all of our citizens equally. Please sign my petition for Senate support of the Equality Act.”

Taylor Swift’s transformation has been phenomenal.

When I was in college, I remember humming along with her beautiful songs.

Now, I don’t know what happens to her.

It is just sad how the video paints Christianity black while LGBT as white.

It just speaks volume to what kind of society we are living in right now.

Pride Month

If you still don’t know, June has been designated as the Pride Month.

It is the month where the LGBT community takes a bolder and more aggressive initiative to be heard.

Pride Month is supposed to rally all people into supporting the LGBT cause and give them the equality they demand.

Indeed, this world has become so much perverted that those who do what is good are shamed and persecuted.

On the other hand, what is considered immoral is now paraded on the streets in broad daylight.

Whoever does not agree with them would be called bigot, old-fashioned, and homophobic.

Some have been expressed outrage when one group started a “Straight Pride” in opposition to “Gay Pride.”

I have written about this in the past.

Read it HERE.

Proverbs 16:18 tells us:

Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before a fall.

When we become proud of our immorality and ashamed of godly principles, then we are heading to sure destruction.

All we need is love

I agree that love wins.

But what type of love is being promoted by our society today?

Obviously, the wrong type of love.

The common argument is, “As long as we love each other, then that’s enough.”

Well, using the same argument, what if I love my sister? Can I marry her?

What if a father romantically loves his daughter, can he marry her?

What if a mother romantically loves his son, can the two marry each other?

You get my point.

When we legalize one act in the name of equality and promote the wrong type of love, we open the proverbial Pandora’s box.

When we allow same-sex relationship, what will hold back pedophiles and polygamous people from doing what they thought is their right?

Some people say that they are “born this way.”

They say, they can’t help it – that they are born gay.

What if I use the same argument?

If I’m born with the desire to steal? To rape? To have multiple women as partners?

Am I justified?

Well, if you go with the argument of the LGBT community, then yes!

The mere fact that you are telling yourself that you are a man when you are a woman or you are a woman when you are a man, you are already lying to yourself and to everyone.

Is homosexuality the worst of sin?

Now, let me tell you right off the bat.

Homosexuality is NOT the worst of all sins.

In fact, in I Corinthians 6:9-10 we can read that it was mentioned alongside with other sins.

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor HOMOSEXUALS, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”

Singling-out homosexuality as the worst of all sins is a mistake.

If you assume that a homosexual should never be saved, then you NEED TO APPLY the same principle to:

  • Fornicators
  • Idolaters
  • Adulterers
  • Thieves
  • Drunkards
  • covetous people
  • revilers
  • and extortionists.

However, we don’t commonly see the same condemnation being done to other types of sin.

We don’t see rallies to condemn fornication, idolatry, and covetousness.

We even often see fornication being glorified in the mainstream media and yet, we don’t see the same outrage.

We see people commit adultery and yet, we tolerate it.

We see so many Christians today who are covetous, having inordinate and uncontrollable desire to have more.

We don’t even see this as a problem.

It is sad to see some Christians who are too zealous in doing what is right to the point that they are doing something wrong.

While we can judge homosexuality as a sin, we are not in the position of God to condemn these people.

It is up to God to determine their fate, not us.

What you should do next?

Pray.

We need to pray for God’s Kingdom to come.

The Bible tells us that things will get worse before they become better.

People will not change unless Yahweh starts working with them.

As for us, we need to keep shining as light.

Show brotherly love.

We must say NO to hateful attitude and lack of compassion.

Homosexuals are sinners just like any of us.

Everyone has a chance to repent and change their ways – including those people in the video of Taylor Swift and the people who proudly wave the rainbow flag.

God is calling us individually and we also answer God’s calling individually.

It is not up to us to do that for them.

All we can do is sow the seed and it is up to God to give the increase.

May we all gain the wisdom to know how we can deal with a sinning brother and with our sins as well.

In all these, we must NEVER compromise.

What God calls sin is always a sin – no matter who says they are not.

And sins should be repented of and not tolerated, be it homosexuality, fornication, adultery, and others.

Above all, let’s do our best to do God’s will and purpose in our lives.

In the end, we will all stand before the Judgment Seat and when we do, I hope we will hear God saying:

“Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.”

  1. I won’t lie….I love Taylor Swift. I have always enjoyed her songs and even have some of her albums. But yesterday I saw the video for her new song and my heart just broke. It definitely changed the way I see her. I feel that if I buy this new album of hers, I will be supporting her and her beliefs.

It’s just heartbreaking to see how our world has changed.

    • Hi Leigh!

I know how it feels. I also love Taylor’s songs. They are upbeat and clean. That was during her earlier days. Think about how a few years could really change a person.

I was also disappointed. The first video of that song is simply lyrics. Then, the official vid came out and I’m just shocked. It even hit #1 trending on YouTube.

Personally, I believe it all comes down to your conscience. For me, I rather please God rather than give more value on my entertainment.

It’s really sad. People fight for things that are immoral and not in accordance with God’s word.

And things will get worse before they get better.

Thus, we must all pray, “Thy Kingdom come.”

      Regards,
      Joshua
