Are you looking for the best Christian applications for your smartphone or tablet? If yes, then you came to the right place.

I personally use different applications that help me with my Christian walk. Modern technology such as smartphones and tablets are excellent tools for us to study the Bible, learn more about God, and seek His will for us.

In this blog, let me share with you my personal list of the best mobile applications that every Christian should install on their smartphone and tablet, whether they are using Android or iOS.

Take a look.

1. MySword Bible

MySword Bible Mobile Application

MySword Bible Mobile Application

This is on top of my must-have application. It is available for Android users like me. Sadly, I tried to find a MySword Bible in iTunes, but to no avail. They don’t have this app for iOS users.

I believe the best thing about MySword is that it is more than just a Bible app. It comes with different Bible translations. It even comes with my dialect. I’m confident that you can find a Bible translation that perfectly fits your need.

Moreover, MySword comes with different commentaries, which are helpful in studying the Bible and learning the deeper meaning of each Bible verses. Of course, not all commentaries are correct. So, just be careful. But all in all, the commentaries are an invaluable addition to your Bible study tools.

MySword comes with built-in notes. You can create a note for each verse, or you can use the built-in notebook to jot down your thoughts.

Another feature that I love about MySword is the dictionary. It comes with Greek and Hebrew dictionaries. You can also search for specific terms using the search button.

Actually, there are just so many things I love about MySword Bible. I even have it on my desktop computer.

If there’s one thing that’s lacking in MySword Bible, it would be the other modern Bible translations. It does not have New King James Version. You can download and purchase this translation and other features.

If you don’t want to pay for other translations, then you can download another Bible app. This brings us to my second most used Christian app.

2. Bible by Olive Tree

Bible by Olive Tree Mobile App

Bible by Olive Tree is a wonderful Bible app because it comes with New King James Version. It also allows you to create an online account where you can store all your personal notes and highlighted verses.

Bible by Olive Tree comes with a free reading plan. Not to mention that the words of Yahshua (Jesus Christ) are written in red letters.

Thankfully, you can also download this app on iTunes.

3. Scripture Typer

Bible Memory Scripture Typer Mobile App

The psalmist proclaimed, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might NOT sin against you” (Psalms 119:11).

From this verse, we can conclude that memorizing God’s word is super helpful for us Christians.

This is where the Scripture Typer comes in. I have used this Bible study tool to help me memorize scriptures. It is definitely a must-have app for every Christian.

What I love about this app is that it allows you to select the level of difficulty in memorizing Bible verses. It helps you to remember scriptures at your own pace.

To top it all, Scripture Typer is available not just on mobile phones and tablets (Android and iOS), but also on desktop computers and laptops.

4. Pocket

Pocket Mobile App

Okay, this is not a Christian app wholly dedicated to our faith. However, I have found this tool super useful. It allows you to save content from the Internet and store it in your digital “pocket.”

Pocket is a wonderful app because you can save web pages with just a few clicks and add tags to quickly organize them. The best thing about Pocket is that it saves content and allows you to read them later even if you are offline.

Pocket is a perfect tool to save Christian articles and websites you want to read, re-read, and even share to others.

Here’s where you can find Pocket on iTunes.

5. StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon Mobile App

Do you want to read something that’s really interesting? If yes, then StumbleUpon is something that you will find amusing.

I use StumbleUpon to read random things about specific topics. While StumbleUpon is not really a popular Christian app, you can find thousands of amazing, impressive, and unique content about Christianity.

Since StumbleUpon is catered to all types of users, you need to first set it up. Once you downloaded the app, create an account, and log into it. From there, you should go to dashboard and select “Add Interest.” Type in Christianity and select it from the choices. After that, you can now start reading different, random articles about Christianity.

Final Words

There you have, my top 5 list of Christian mobile apps. I hope by sharing these apps, you will be encouraged to use your smartphone or tablet more productively. Instead of just using it to access Facebook, why not read the Book of all books or read other Christian articles that will help you grow in grace and knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

So, take some time to explore this Christian mobile app list, and I pray that you get more benefits from your mobile device than ever before.

  1. Great post! There are two that I use a lot. 1. Blue Letter Bible. It allows you to look up the original Hebrew and Greek very quickly. 2. Echo prayer app. It allows you to organize prayer requests, set reminder alarms and other helpful features. Keep up the good work!

  2. I’ve been using the YouVersion Bible app as it has virtually all modern translations, and it has A LOT of reading plans and devos to choose from. But I’ll check out the MySword and Blue Letter Bible apps. Will check out Scripture Typer, too, as well as Echo 🙂 Thanks for this very practical post!

    • Hi Pia! Yes, I heard a lot of Christians using YouVersion. I tried it myself. It’s a great app. I could have listed it here but I’m focusing on apps that people most likely don’t know. Nevertheless, YouVersion is definitely a must-have app. 🙂

      You’re welcome. I’m glad to help. 🙂
