5 of the Best Lessons the Feast of Trumpets Teaches Us

The Feast of Trumpets is among the Festivals of God listed in Leviticus 23. We read the command of keeping it on Leviticus 23:23-25:

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a Sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.’”

When Jesus (or more accurately known as Yahshua) was in the human flesh, He kept the Feast of Trumpets along with the other Jews. After the death and resurrection of Jesus, the first-century Church continued in keeping it along with the other six Festivals mentioned in Leviticus 23.

While most Christians today don’t celebrate the Feast of Trumpets, it teaches great lessons for those who do. If we try to understand its significant meaning, the Feast of Trumpets helps us understand the plan of God for all mankind.

In this blog post, let me share with the important lessons we can from the Feast of Trumpets.

Lesson no. 1: The Feast of Trumpets signifies God’s time

The Feast of Trumpets represents the time when God will directly intervene in human affairs. It represents the time when Christ will return here on earth, not just as a helpless baby, but a conquering King.

We read in Revelation 11:15:

Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”

Lesson no. 2: The Feast of Trumpets signifies the hope of the coming Kingdom of God

We live in a chaotic, ugly, and depressing world where Satan is currently the ruler (II Corinthians 4:4). When all hopes seem to fade, Christ will finally return. Of all the prophecies made in the Bible, perhaps the coming of Jesus for the second time is the most exciting. It will be the turning point in the history of mankind.

Lesson no. 3: The Feast of Trumpets serves as a warning

In the time of the Israelites, the trumpet is used to sound a warning. We read in Numbers 10:9:

“When you go to war in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets.”

As we celebrate the Feast of Trumpets, we are reminded that there will come a time that Jesus Christ will return. It means that we must live our lives according to God’s will and purpose. Why? Because at the end of our lives, we are all answerable to God.

We can’t simply live a life of no accountability to a Higher Power. Thus, we need to develop a sense of urgency and change our lives NOW.

All of us will one day stand before the Judgement Throne of God and give an account of the things we have done. The Feast of Trumpets serves as a wake-up call for all to repent and change our ways and start living a life pleasing to God before it’s too late.

Lesson no. 4: The Feast of Trumpets helps us rejoice

One of the uses of trumpets in the olden times is to serve as a festive sound. We read in Numbers 10:10:

“Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets… and they shall be a memorial for you before your God.”

While the events preceding the coming of Jesus Christ will be the great and dreadful tribulation, we can be sure that there are better days ahead. As the world hears the seventh trumpet, all the saints of God will rejoice. They know that Jesus is coming and He won’t delay His return anymore.

From there, He will finally establish God’s Kingdom that will bring peace, blessings, and prosperity to the world.

Lesson no. 5: Christ will reward the saints with eternal life

We read in I Corinthians 15:52:

“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

At last, the loud sound of the seventh trumpet will wake the dead saints and be resurrected to eternal life! From there, they will meet the Lord in the air and will commence the establishment of God’s kingdom here on earth!

Will you keep the Feast of Trumpets?

The Feast of Trumpets holds the very hope of mankind. This world will not end through apocalyptic nuclear warfare or catastrophic natural calamities as some people predict.

Jesus Christ, Himself said:

“For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened” (Matthew 24:21-22).

Before man destroys himself, Jesus Christ will intervene. At the sound of the last trumpet, everyone will know that there is a God in heaven who is ultimately in control. He is the Supreme, Almighty God who created the whole universe and at the same time, the God who we call our Father.

While it is true that the Feast of Trumpets is not mentioned directly in the New Testament, we have no valid reason to think that this Holy Day shouldn’t be observed. Remember that the NT Church used the Old Testament as their basis for doctrine (II Timothy 3:16). We have numerous passages that show us how the first-century church kept the Festivals of God, and that includes the Feast of Trumpets.

I know this is a huge, huge topic. So, please request your free copy of God’s Holy Day Plan: The Promise of Hope for All Mankind.

These are just some of the best lessons from the Feast of Trumpets. I hope you will remember and apply them in your daily life. As we go through our Christian walk, let us take courage from the words of our Savior:

“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28).

As we keep the Feast of Trumpets, let us learn its meaning and how its lessons can be translated into our lives.
