Paris Terror Attacks: Is Islam Still a Religion of Peace?

Survivors rescued from the Paris terrorist attack.

In a busy Friday evening, Paris was attacked by terrorists and the event has turned into the worst violence in France since World War II. It has left over 120 people dead.

At the time of this writing, at least 129 people have been killed in seven separate attacks across the French capital. ISIS is quick to claim responsibility. While the whole western world mourns and condemns the attack, thousands of ISIS supporters around the globe celebrate the carnage done within the peaceful city of Paris. Though western leaders think that Islam is still a “religion of peace”, it is more than ever difficult to believe this statement. Undeniably, not all Muslims are extremists and violent. Majority of them still remain peaceable and moderate.

ISIS and What It Represents

Since the bloodthirsty and violent ISIS group has made the headlines, we are bombarded with the atrocity and barbaric acts that they have done. Videos of merciless beheading, burning, drowning, and killing of countless people have circulated throughout the digital world. All these in the name of their religion – Islam. For those who claim that religion has nothing to do with it, wait until you tell that to those heartless men shouting “Allu Akbar! Allu Akbar!” as they slit people’s throat or pull their gun triggers.

The ultimate goal of ISIS is to establish a Global Islamic State, herald the coming of their 12th imam, and make Islam the religion of the world. They base their actions, principles, and values on the Sharia Law mentioned in Quran, their holy book.

Islam, a Religion of Peace?

It is really difficult for the Western mind to understand the thinking of ISIS. The attack to the French Capital should not come as a surprise. ISIS and other terrorist groups have repeatedly called for the death of the Western world. Before the carnage in Paris, we have seen many attacks in various western cities. A quick look at the news will reveal hundreds of attacks done in the name of Islam.

It is very important to understand the doctrine laid out in Quran. There are passages in Quran that encourage the killing of Infidels or those people who have not submitted in their god, Allah. Some of these passages are as follows:

Quran 2:191 – “And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out.”

Surah 9:5 – “When the sacred months are over slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them.”

Quran 8:12 – “When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you, therefore make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.”

Quran 5:33 – “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement.”

Surah 9:39 – “If you do not go to war, [ Allah ] will punish you sternly, and will replace you by other men.”

These are just some of the passages about how Muslims view the infidels. On the other hand, there are also passages in Quran that promote peace, tolerance, and love for each other – infidel or not. Here are some of them.

“O You who believe! Enter absolutely into peace (Islam). Do not follow in the footsteps of satan. He is an outright enemy to you.” (Holy Quran: 2, 208)

“There is no compulsion where the religion is concerned.” (Holy Quran: 2/ 256)

“You cannot guide those you would like to but God guides those He wills. He has best knowledge of the guided.” (Holy Quran/28: 56)

“We have appointed a law and a practice for every one of you. Had God willed, He would have made you a single community, but He wanted to test you regarding what has come to you. So compete with each other in doing good. Every one of you will return to God and He will inform you regarding the things about which you differed.” (Surat al-Ma’ida, 48)

“God does not forbid you from being good to those who have not fought you in the religion or driven you from your homes, or from being just towards them. God loves those who are just.” (Surat al-Mumtahana, 8)

It is up to you, readers, to judge whether Islam is really a religion of peace or war.

Expect for More Violence

The terror attack in Paris is not just the beginning. In reality, a series of attacks has already been done leading to this event. We heard about the terrorist attacks executed by ISIS in Libya, Russia, Beirut, the Russian plane, and others.

The truth is that things like this in Paris can LITERALLY happen any time. It is only a matter of time that the war against terror will reach the soil of every Western nation – unless, the necessary measures should be done to prevent it.

So please pray for Paris. Pray for the persecuted Christians. Pray for the Middle East. Pray for all the Western nations. Pray for the whole world. And above all, PRAY “THY KINGDOM COME!”

  1. Hi Josh, thanks for that quick, accurate, and powerful assessment of that Paris attack. You were wise enough to put the event (and others like it) in the correct perspective of world events and Bible prophecy. May God continue to also use you to boldly proclaim God’s truths in this spiritually blinded world.
