When you pray, who should you pray to? Jesus Christ gives us the instructions in Matthew 6.

  1. Not only can we address the Father in prayer (Matthew 6:9), but the Lord Jesus is also the proper recipient of prayer.
To call on the name of the Lord was always used in the Old Testament in reference to praying to the Lord (Psalm 116:4; Lamentations 3:55-57; Zephaniah 3:9; etc.). This calling on the name of the Lord is now used in the New Testament in reference to praying to the Lord Jesus (Acts 2:21; Romans 10:13;1 Corinthians 1:2; 2 Timothy 2:22; etc.).

    • Hi Marc,

      Thanks for your additional comment.

Our prayer should be directed to the Father just like what Jesus (Yahshua) taught us in Matthew 6. However, we pray in the name of Yahshua.

      • And the passages I cited in my first response demonstrate that Christians are to pray directly “to” the Lord Jesus.
